New Golf Plus BiFuel at Present Obtainable for Order In Germany

Two Natural Gas Cars Tops at the24-hour Endurance Race

Two natural gas Volkswagen Scirocco race cars reached the top and were honored in the alternative-fuel class of the 24-hour endurance race. The race was not tough for the two Volkswagen because they were the only cars belonging to the category. One of the two cars took the 17th place in the overall race and it stood ahead of the Porsches and BMWs.

The race was conducted at the well-known and dreaded Nurburgring Nordschleife. Vanina Ickx drove the No. 115 GT24-CNG Scirocco. Peter Terting, Klaus Niedzwiedz and Thomas Klenke stood first in the alternative-fuel class and 17th overall.
It was a superior weekend for the 5 Sciroccos which Volkswagen had sent to the ‘Ring. Apart from the 2 natural gas racers, a gasoline burning ‘rocco stood on 15th spot overall and first place in the 2.0-liter turbo class. This is Volkswagen’s 3 victory in a row in this category.

Renewable and Synthetic Fuels Tried by Volkswagen

Volkswagen and Archer Daniels Midland, one of the world’s top agriculture processors and a principal in biofuels, have arranged to work toward fostering the growth and usage of biodiesel in the auto industry. This is a noteworthy step ahead for biofuels for the size of the companies involved. ADM’s key interest in this developing market, and VW’s respectable and developing use of advanced diesel engines in its product line.

In Europe, Volkswagen has combined with the Royal Dutch/Shell Group to exhibit the feasibility of cars motorized by synthetic fuel obtained from natural gas. For the past 5 month period, 25 VW Golf hatchbacks power-driven by 100 horsepower TDI diesel engines were fuelled by this spotless-fiery gas-to-liquids fuel. The object was to prove this fuel’s discharge savings features. This is also claimed to be comparable to that of compressed natural gas but at lesser cost.

Production of Civic GX natural gas vehicles Started by American Honda

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC started production of the natural gas-powered Civic GX, at its plant in Greensburg, Indiana. The Civic GX has been awarded with top environmental awards and the awards include the American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy’s “America’s Greenest Car” award for 5 successive years. Honda is known for its extended history of environmental leadership.
America’s first hybrid the Honda Insight was also built by Honda. The only natural gas vehicle, the Civic GX is produced by a main automaker in the U.S. The Civic GX has the lightest inner ignition vehicle and it is certified by the EPA as 90% cleaner than other gasoline driven cars.

The Civic GX was previously created at Honda’s East Liberty, Ohio plant. The car has a mean series of above 220 miles, and has exceptional fuel economy at 24 MPG within the city limits and 36 MPG on the highways.

Volkswagen Tries Out Renewable and Synthetic Fuels

Volkswagen and Archer Daniels Midland have agreed to work together for further development and use of biodiesel in the auto industry. This is a noteworthy step forward for biofuels.

Biodiesel is a cleaner burning fuel mixture which is made by blending formal diesel fuel with natural or inexhaustible resources such as canola or soybean oil. Advantages to the environment include considerably decreased carbon monoxide and emission of particulate matter like soot.
The synthetic fuel can be utilized in today’s engines and mingled with formal diesel fuel. It’s also well-suited with obtainable fuel allocation and storage systems. The fuel will support advanced power plants like the company’s combined combustion system (CCS).
All this means an important step toward a hydrogen fuel cell. The feedstock for such a synthetic fuel may be biomass and it will have the benefit of dropping greenhouse gas emissions.

Volkswagen Passat Variant TSI EcoFuel

A lot of car manufactures in Europe are developing cars that are running on Compressed Natural Gas. Now the German manufacture Volkswagen also joined this group of manufactures. At the Genève Motor Show in 2008, they showed the Passat TSI EcoFuel.

Below the Volkswagen Passat Variant TSI EcoFuel on stage. It has a 148 hp engine that runs on gasoline and compressed natural gas. The gasoline tank is just there as reserve tank. We hope Volkswagen will produce more vehicles running on Alternative Fuels.
