Mack Trucks, Inc. has brought out the MACK TerraPro Low Entry model truck with weighty-duty natural gas engines provided by Cummins Westport, Inc. (CWI). The truck was set in motion by Mack at the WasteExpo 2009, in reaction to the rising need for less discharge alternative fuel vehicles. The TerraPro Cabover model will be obtainable later.

320 hp is the rating of the 9-liter Cummins Westport ISL G. Either compressed (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) can be used in this truck. It is also equipped with a 3 way catalytic converter to adhere to the EPA’10 expelling standards.
Groot Industries, Inc. which is a major rot hauler in the Midwest has already ordered for the TerraPro with ISL G engines. It is stated that the 20 units will run on CNG and are planned to enter into service in the Chicago region by the end of the year.
